How to Get Here

Hebridean Holiday Cabins are located in the village of Breasclete, on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis in north west Scotland. The Isle of Lewis and Harris are one land mass, and form the top part of the chain of islands known as the Outer Hebrides or Western Isles.

There are several travel connections to mainland Scotland, including 2 main ferry ports in Stornoway and Tarbert, Stornoway Airport and a smaller ferry connecting the Uist’s to Lewis and Harris. Please refer to the map at the bottom of this page which shows the ferry connections available.

Getting Here by Ferry:-

Please note that CALMAC have not yet released their winter bookings from October 23 to March 24. You can make bookings with us as normal and then make a booking with CALMAC once they release their winter bookings. Please be assured that there will be plenty availability on winter crossings, please sign up for their newsletter for updates for when their winter bookings are being made available. Sailing times will be of a very similar nature on the Stornoway and Ullapool route, but may vary on the Uig to Tarbert sailings due to a planned outage during October for the Uig pier works.

The most popular and cost effective way of getting here is by Ferry, from Ullapool to Stornoway or Uig (Skye) to Tarbert. Ferry’s run daily with 2 crossings a day from Ullapool and Tarbert, all services are run by Caledonian Macbrayne www.calmac.co.uk

The Ullapool to Stornoway crossing is 2hrs and 30min, and the Uig to Tarbert crossing is 1hr and 45min. The Tarbert ferry crossing is shorter and cheaper, but the drive to the port of Uig is slightly longer, but can be more scenic if you are travelling from the south. The Ullapool to Stornoway crossing is slightly longer, but has better road and public transport links through Inverness which enables a shorter drive.

Getting Here by Plane:-

Direct flights to Stornoway run daily from Glasgow, Inverness, Edinburgh, Manchester and London Southend. Flights range from 30minutes from Inverness to 50 minutes from Glasgow or Edinburgh. All services are run by Loganair www.loganair.co.uk, and if booked in advance can offer good value for money.

Car Hire:-

Car hire is available from Stornoway ferry terminal and Stornoway airport with Car Hire Hebrides, www.carhire-hebrides.co.uk and is also available in other areas with www.askcarhire.com and www.stornowaycarhire.co.uk

Bus Services:-

Bus services to the main ferry ports of Ullapool and Uig in Skye are operated by Scottish Citylink, www.citylink.co.uk and it is advisable to book in advance of travel especially in peak travel times.

All bus services on the island are operated by the local authority, and can be infrequent in areas. Timetables are available at the following link www.cne-siar.gov.uk/roads-travel-and-parking/public-transport/bus-services/
